Solis College works hard to make sure that each and every student finds a suitable industry placement to complete their training, but it’s not just up to us. There are a few things you’ll need to make sure of to qualify for a practical placement.
Documentation
Before you can be considered for placement, you need to provide us with all the appropriate documentation. This needs to be submitted before the placement application deadline, as we need time to process the information and relay the relevant details to placement providers.
Class attendance
To be eligible for placement, you must have a satisfactory attendance record – having attended all of your face-to-face classes. We need to know you’re reliable with attendance before we can recommend you to a placement provider and potential future employer.
If you can’t attend one or more of the classes due to sickness or other considerations, you’ll need to talk to us about attending the missed classes at an alternate time, if possible.
Academic requirements
You cannot take part in a practical placement if your results to date in the course have not been satisfactory. The knowledge you learn in class will be assumed and put into practice while on placement, so you must have a solid grasp of the relevant knowledge and skills. We can’t put you out there in the field if you don’t know what to do when you get there.
Availability for placement
You must be available for the period of your placement – which can require up to 40 hours a week. If you have difficulties with availability you should discuss your situation with us, but we cannot guarantee a placement if you are not available to take part in one.
If you have any questions about placements or course requirements, or you need to discuss problems with your eligibility for a placement, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Contact us by phone on 0410 140 757, by email at info@soliscollege.sa.edu.au or by visiting our contact page. We want to help!
