What is the Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning)?

The Grad Dip of Management (Learning) provides students with the skills and training to not only manage and coordinate other workers, but to develop the capabilities of staff through training and personal development.

The qualification reflects the ability to apply highly specialised knowledge and skills in the field of organisational learning and capability development. People in these roles generate and evaluate complex ideas. They also initiate, design and execute major learning and development functions within an organisation – such as training programs, orientation packages, and personal development opportunities.

Typically, they would have full responsibility and accountability for the personal output and work of others. This qualification may apply to leaders and managers in an organisation where learning is used to build organisational capability – such as a registered training organisation.

How long will it take to complete the BSB80120 course?

The Grad Dip of Management (Learning) requires 52 weeks of study to complete, including all training, orientation, assignments, self-paced learning, and holidays.

How much time will I need to invest each week?

The BSB80120 Grad Dip is a full-time course. When enrolling, students should ensure they have the capacity to spend 20 hours a week attending classes, studying the course material and completing assignments.

Can I get RPL for subjects I've studied before?

If you have completed any of the training modules included in the course as part of another qualification, you should talk to our enrolments team – you may be eligible for a credit transfer, meaning you don’t need to attend those units and may be able to complete your course in a shorter time.

You should also discuss with us if you have training or industry experience related to the course – as you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL).

Pathways to employment

The Grad Dip of Management (Learning) is an excellent way to both launch yourself into a management career, or to take your management skills to a deeper, more strategic level. It allows students to go beyond simply managing other staff, and think more strategically about building staff capabilities, developing new skills within an organisation, and streamlining the onboarding process of new employees.

Graduates are equipped with skills and training to open the door to far more senior management roles and opportunities. If you have aspirations to work in business at an executive level, this could be exactly the stepping stone you need.

It also provides an excellent pathway into the work of professional training. So if your career goal is to help others achieve their goals, the Grad Dip of Management is a great way to get started on that path.

Solis College's BSB80120 course is an official Vocational Education and Training package provided by a fully accredited Australian RTO. As such, it is backed by the National Register of Vocational Education and Training, and recognised throughout Australia by almost all major employers and legitimate businesses.

The National Register of Vocational Education and Training regularly updates its training packages. This means that in some cases, you may be asked if you've completed an older, outdated version of the Grad Dip of Management. Some older equivalents of the BSB80120 qualification include:

  • BSB80615 - Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning)
  • TAE80210 - Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning)
  • BSB80108 - Vocational Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning)
  • BSB80515 - Graduate Certificate in Management (Learning)
  • TAE70210 - Graduate Certificate in Management (Learning)
  • BSB70108 - Vocational Graduate Certificate in Management (Learning)

In each of these cases, the BSB80120 graduate diploma supersedes those older qualifications - meaning it should be accepted as the updated version of those older courses.

The Grad Dip of Management (Learning) opens the door to a range of high-end roles in both organisational HR, and in professional training organisations. Some of the job pathways available include:

  • Career Development Manager (Education Sector)
  • Department Manager
  • Staff Development Manager
  • General Manager
  • Chief Executive Officer
  • RTO Education Advisor
  • RTO Manager
  • RTO Director
