This course equips students to work in childcare or early childhood education environments such as kindergartens and childcare centres. Students learn to safely and ethically care for children of a wide range of ages and cultural backgrounds.
They support children’s play and learning while maintaining their wellbeing, safety, and healthy development. Graduates can operate as part of a team or independently, and can work within established rules and guidelines.

The Solis College CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care course is provided in a hybrid format, blending both independent learning using online resources and traditional face-to-face class time with one of our expert instructors.
The in-class component is completed at our training facilities, while the independent online learning may be completed in your own time from the comfort of your home – provided you have a stable internet connection to access your online student portal.

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care requires a total of 52 weeks to complete – a full year of study.
This includes all class hours, assignments, orientation, holiday periods, final assessments, and mandatory work placement.

CHC50121 – Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
This advanced course provides students with the skills to work in early childhood education and care at a senior level, coordinating other staff and driving policy for their workplace. Students learn to manage relationships with family members, set learning goals, ensure workplace compliance, and monitor and support children’s development and wellbeing.
They use specialised knowledge and skills to overcome unexpected problems and support other staff to do the same. Graduates can work without direct supervision, and may be given responsibility for other industry professionals or volunteers.
If you’re considering a change of career or looking for a way to better your situation, the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is an excellent option to consider. First and foremost, it’s a career where you can make a real difference – investing in the lives of young people and supporting them as they grow and develop. But quite apart from the personal satisfaction such roles can provide, the course also has an excellent track record of improving the welfare and careers of students.
In 2023, a report by Jobs and Skills Australia found that studying a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care increased a graduate’s average odds of employment by a massive 31.1% – the second-highest employment improvement rate of any VET course in Australia. In fact, 84.47% of course graduates found work after completing the course.
The course was also in the top 20 courses in Australia for highest median improvement in income – graduates were an average of $17,148 per year better off after completing the course. This, combined with the fact that early childhood educators work is a growth industry with plenty of jobs available (more than 7000 positions currently on offer for Childcare Educators alone, and a 5-year projected growth of over 5%) makes children’s education and care a rewarding career with excellent job prospects.
The cert 3 early childhood education and care qualification is a full-time study course and requires a commitment of around 20 hours each week to attend classes, complete assignments, and work through self-paced online learning resources.
Also, students enrolling in the course will be required to undertake mandatory work placement of at least 160 hours in a professional early childhood industry setting. This will mean a larger time commitment from students – equivalent to working full-time for the duration of the placement.
Solis College provides assistance to students for finding a suitable work placement, and guarantees placements for students meeting the eligibility criteria.
If you’ve previously completed any of the training units included in the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification as part of another course, you should talk with our enrolments team about a credit transfer for those units of study. You may be able to receive credit for some of those units, which may mean you will not be required to attend them again. This may allow you to complete your studies sooner (depending on schedules).
There may be more flexibility with elective units than core units in regard to what units of study can count towards your course.
In addition to this, if you have undertaken less formal training or worked in a field related to the CHC30121 course, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning. For example, if you have previously worked as a volunteer at a childcare centre, we may be able to grant recognition for things you will have learned in that context.

The CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care has no formal requirements in terms of prior learning or qualifications. However, there are some more general criteria you’ll need to meet to be able to take part in the training with Solis College. Students enrolling in the course must:

CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is assessed using a range of methods to cater for different students and learning styles. Students will demonstrate both their knowledge of the course material and their practical skills, and assessments may include:
To successfully complete the course, students will need to achieve a satisfactory result in each assessment.
If you initially receive an unsatisfactory result on one or more of your course assignments, this does not automatically mean you are unable to complete your course and receive your certificate. Rather, you will be given one additional chance to retake the assessment and receive a successful result.
If you are unsuccessful on the second attempt, it will mean you will need to re-take (and successfully complete) that unit of study before you can be awarded your CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
